CRITERIA FOR AWARDING "JOAN CARLIN" FOUNDATION GRANTS
The Gridley Education Foundation has set up an endowment fund in memory of Joan Carlin, a popular and talented teacher who taught in Gridley Schools for many years. The earnings from this fund are available to the Gridley Unified School District personnel in the form of "Joan Carlin" Grants that will be used to improve the educational experience of Gridley students. In addition to the Carlin endowment fund, grant monies might come from individual donations and/or from the Gridley Education Foundation general fund as well. Applications for the "Joan Carlin" Grants are available at each school site. The Selection Committee Includes: One Foundation Director One Representative from McKinley School One Representative from Wilson School One Representative from Sycamore School One Representative from Gridley High School One Retired Teacher from the Gridley Unified School District One Administrator from the Gridley Unified School District "Joan Carlin" Grants will be awarded based on the following criteria and guidelines: 1. Consideration will be given to creative, innovative projects that improve the educational experience of students. 2. Applications must show an expressed commitment to the project. 3. Grants may be issued for non-consumable educational materials which support classroom instruction as well as other equipment, programs, and software that improve the educational experience of Gridley students. 4. Consideration will be given, but not limited to, grant requests that have matching funds. 5. Committee members might approve monies for all, or a portion of the grant request. 6. Grant selection will be announced prior to the end of the school year with monies paid the next school year. General Information: 1. Applications will be available at each school site by March 1st. 2. Completed applications must be submitted to the District Administrator by April 1st. 3. The Selection Committee will review applications prior to their May 1st meeting. 4. Applicants will be notified of Selection Committees decisions prior to June 5th for grants to be awarded the following school year. 5. All unused funds will remain in the Grant Program to be re-allocated the following year.
